Company description
For many patients, diagnosis and treatment takes place in one or two nights. Treatment may include medication, continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) machines, surgery, or behavioral therapy. If you require an overnight sleep study, you will be scheduled to check into one of our centers for a sleep evaluation. During your stay, monitoring devices will be used to measure breathing, brain activity and movement. You also will be monitored overnight with video cameras.
Spectrum Health provides access to physicians who are knowledgeable in sleep disorders. We incorporate the expertise of neurologists, psychiatrists, pulmonologists, nurse practitioners and sleep technologists in our diagnosis and treatment. Our experienced and dedicated staff members work with a large number of sleep patients each year. Research has shown a positive correlation between a high number of cases and quality of care.
With nine locations for sleep assessment and testing, Spectrum Health's network of sleep centers is the largest in West Michigan. We also provide the only pediatric testing facility in West Michigan.

I drive a semi truck and they require a readout report as part of my annual physical. I left a message yesterday and NO return call. Tried again today, we'll see what happens. Spent at least ten minutes on hold listening to crappy music coming directly from a tin can. They will, more than likely surcharge patients for a better quality music. Any way, no answer again while waiting. Had to call again only to get a machine. Wonderful!!!!. Well where else can one go? Spectrum has everything tied up in Grand Rapids Mich. My advise, better patient response.

I have sleep apnea and a commercial drivers license. As part of my CDL I have to have an annual physical. Part of that physical is to review my CPAP report. My CPAP can be accessed remotely. Nothing in my health, as far as my sleep issues, have changed. I contacted Spectrum's Sleep Clinic to have my CPAP results sent to the doctor who is doing my annual physical. They refused to do it without me seeing a doctor face to face. Kind of defeats the whole remote access portion of the CPAP. They claimed it was a DOT requirement, which it is not as long as I see the other doctor. All they need to do is send the results to the other doctor, but this way they can charge my insurance, and me, for a doctors visit. The other issue is since I do drive out of town I have to burn a vacation day to so I can see the doctor for five minutes. Thanks Spectrum. I'll be looking for another doctor.

Seeing a physician after the initial visit is unlikely. Any complicated questions i.e.. the treatment doesn't go as expected, at least for Dr. Mandala, are handled though his PA's. He offers recommendations and updated diagnosis's without seeing patients (my experience is at least once). It is not that the PA's aren't good but there are limits to their knowledge be it expressed via email or appointments. With difficult medical concerns consultation with the MD is required so why are appointments scheduled when one is not present but available in the office? Speaking as a doctor this suggests poor medical care.
